30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Four — 03/16/2018

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Four

I hope you got to check out my 100th post from a little bit ago! It was a lot of work to get through everything I wanted to, and I think it turned out okay. You can read that here.

Favorite Non-Karasuno Character

Well, I already have answered this, twice. Kenma is my favorite, from Nekoma, and Oikawa is also in my top favorites, from Seijoh. And my other favorite two are from Karasuno. Hmm…

100th Post Special! —

100th Post Special!

Do you ever stare at your statistics for a while thinking, “How the heck did this happen”? That’s a thought I have almost every time I look at my stats for this blog. I see how many posts I’ve written, how many individual people spent their precious time looking at my work, how my words have been read on every continent, how many words I’ve typed up for this blog that was a passing thought at one point. It’s completely insane. I started this blog because I didn’t have anyone to tell my thoughts to. I wrote a few entries in a journal and then typed them up into Wattpad, but that went nowhere. I remembered hearing about WordPress and decided it’d be worth a shot. I remember going into this blind, setting up my website for the first time, and having no ideas to fill it with. Now, I’ve hit that “publish” button 100 times now. And every time I did, I second-guessed myself. But I always know that even if my post flops, as a few have in the past, I will still have had fun writing it.

Now that my little reflection of how far I’ve come is done, let’s move onto the fun stuff!

I put up a poll on my Twitter to see what my followers wanted to see in my 100th post, and the answer was fairly clear pretty early on. I’ll be looking at four posts I wrote in my first few months of having this blog.

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Three — 03/15/2018

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Three

Character you Gradually Warmed Up To

This is actually an interesting one. Especially since he’s one of my favorite characters now. Back when he was first introduced, I thought for sure I’d never like him, but see where I ended up with that mindset.

The character I didn’t like at first but gradually ended up loving is Oikawa Tooru. I’m not sure what it was about his introduction, but he made me kind of uncomfortable. He was sporadic, and I couldn’t tell if he was trying to be rude to not. By the end of the episode, he sort of freaked me out. I thought I’d never understand his intentions and that’s the one thing that annoys me about certain characters. I thought he was a jerk at first. But, after watching the rest of season one, I ended up loving him. That first impression didn’t leave too bad of a bad taste in my mouth, clearly.

Why do I like him now? He’s hardworking, to the point where he sometimes overdoes it. No matter what, he’ll keep it together and stay strong for his team. (Specifically, I’m referring to the end of season two here, but I’ll discuss that in detail during a later day) He jokes around with others to keep things lighthearted, though it may come across as being mean. And, have you seen his serve?? I hold my breath every time.

Oikawa is in my top five characters now, and has been since the end of season one.

I never thought I’d ramble about Oikawa, but here we are. I’m having loads of fun doing this challenge so far, and I hope everyone else is enjoying it as well!

I’m kind of in a weird emotional and motivational state right, and this really helps me. I think it has to do with my wonky sleep schedule and the stress of running out of money with no job, so I’ll be sleeping this weekend and I guess driving around to apply places. But I’ll be sure to keep this going as well!

Tomorrow will be my 100th post special first, and then day 4 of this challenge will be up!

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Two — 03/14/2018

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day Two

I’m so excited to be doing this challenge, it allows me to gush about everything without clogging up a post about it.

Day Two: Character you First Fell in Love With

Sugawara Koushi. He was my favorite for about half of my watching experience. Then it switched to Kenma. He’s still in my top 5 characters now, but I felt since I related to Kenma, I’d change him to my favorite.

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day One — 03/13/2018

30 Day Haikyu!! Challenge: Day One

Hmm, clearly I just finished this show since I posted my season 3 thoughts today…so why am I doing this challenge so soon? Simple. I loved doing the 30 Day Anime Challenge I did back in December, and I knew this challenge also existed, so I figure I’d give it a go. I’ll be hopefully starting a job soon and I know I’ll get a bit stressed from that, and I get hard on myself when I don’t post anything. This is a great way to keep posting and have some fun with of my newfound favorite anime!

Day One: Favorite Character

Those who know me well won’t be surprised about this. It’s Kozume Kenma.

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 3 —

My Thoughts On: Haikyuu!! Season 3

…Oh my god, I’ve gotten myself in trouble from watching this show. I delved into the fandom head-first way back in season one, and now that I’ve finished this show, I think I’ll be depending on it even more. And when I finished it, I didn’t really know what to do with myself anymore. It’s the longest series I’ve finished in a long time, which seems a bit strange since it’s not horribly long. But, with the way I watch anime now, I don’t watch more than two or three episodes of a show at once, so it takes me forever just to get through a 24 or 25 episode series that’s been completed.

Along with it being 60 episodes, much longer than I generally dedicate myself to, it’s also about a sport. One that I’ve never in my life had any interest in, and the one time I played it for PE class in sixth grade, all I did was serve and watch everyone else play. I didn’t think I would find much enjoyment in this show, since the sport didn’t appeal to me, but this show is a lot more than just boys playing volleyball. It’s about teamwork, friendship, and achieving your dreams. And I love every second of it.

[OWLS Blog Tour: “Squad”] Friendship through the Eyes of an Introvert: Hyouka — 03/09/2018

[OWLS Blog Tour: “Squad”] Friendship through the Eyes of an Introvert: Hyouka

I happened to already have the intention of rewatching this show before I saw what this month’s topic was going to be. And then as I was thinking about possible anime to cover, I thought, “Oh, actually that’s perfect.” and now had a reason to be rewatching the show. Not like I wouldn’t anyway because I love and missed this show a whole lot! It was within my first fifteen or so anime that I watched, and gosh it was great to visit something I haven’t touched in three years.

If you aren’t aware, this post is of a tour for the lovely group, OWLS, which I’ve been writing for since June of last year! We are a group of loving anime fans who want to spread positivity through pop culture and anime! We are non-discriminant against anyone regardless of their race, gender, sexuality, etc.

And, for the prompt of this month:

Although some people may like to be alone at times, we all have that one special friend or a squad of friends who we kick it and have some good laughs and fun with. However, there are friendships that don’t last a lifetime and usually, they end due to a falling out or a misunderstanding. For this month’s topic, we will be exploring some of the best friendships in anime and pop culture as well as the friendships that ended suddenly. We will talk about what a true friendship means to us, what we learned about ourselves and others through broken friendships, and our definitions of a “good friend.”

Thank you Lyn for the wonderful topic for this month!

There are not any explicit spoilers in this post, only vague events. None of the mysteries are spoiled in the slightest. So, if you’ve never watched this show, it is safe to read!

My Thoughts On: Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens (Ep 1-6) — 03/01/2018

My Thoughts On: Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens (Ep 1-6)

I really like this anime a lot, and you may have heard mixed things about it, but hear me out. It may be similar to Durarara! and Baccano, but it still takes a unique turn on some aspects that make it stand out to me. I haven’t watched Baccano yet, but I have watched DRRR, and I’d say even at this point in the show, I like it better than that.

You also may be a bit shocked to see that I’m talking about a seasonal anime, as I generally don’t watch them until the season is over. The only other one I’m watching is The Ancient Magus’ Bride, and I will watch My Hero Academia weekly when the dub airs. But I happened to see someone mention this show on Twitter, so I added it to my list and when I finished a different anime up, I watched the four episodes that were out in one sitting.

I’ll definitely be staying with this one until the season is over, and this post will explain why. I’ll have a follow up post when the anime is finished, and some of the points I make in this one could change for that one.

Bakugou Katsuki: An Analysis (My Hero Academia) — 02/23/2018

Bakugou Katsuki: An Analysis (My Hero Academia)

That name sparks different emotions in different people, no pun intended. Some love him, and even more hate him. I began wondering why, exactly, this is. I didn’t ever exactly hate him. I couldn’t understand him, and he was a bit overwhelming, but I never felt actual hatred for this character. Not like another character I know (freaking Mineta I swear).

Personally, I began to absolutely love Bakugou in season 2. I’m not entirely sure why, but at some point while watching, I became obsessed with him. And now that I’m reading the manga, I’m finding even more reasons to like him. Which is why it makes me so sad when I see people hating on him. I know how he appears on the surface, but if you dig down, he’s not a bad kid.
