Well, I’ve made it to day two, which is already something I’m proud of. I’ve never been ambitious enough to consider posting multiple days in a row. This is going to be different for me.
Today’s prompt is…
Favorite Anime You’ve Watched So Far
Well, that’s quite a tall order. I don’t think any avid anime fan can name a single anime they deem their favorite. And that definitely applies to me. I’ve watched about forty anime now, but I’m in the middle of about ten at the moment, so it’s a bit hard to pick only one.
I think I’ll narrow this down to: what is my favorite current anime I’m watching? And even that’s difficult for me. My top three at the moment are Haikyu!!, March Comes in Like a Lion, and Ancient Magus’ Bride. All very different titles, I know.
I’m deep in the Haikyu fandom at the moment, so I’d want to say it’s that, but I think I’ll have to choose The Ancient Magus’ Bride, just because it surpassed a lot of my expectations. I never read the manga of it, but I’d heard a lot of people gushing about the manga, and I was looking forward to it for the second half of this year. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but whatever it was, this show managed to surprise me.
Honestly, it’s the visuals. It always comes to the art, I swear. Both other shows have nice art too, but just not as pretty. Okay, I’m not sure if Haikyu can even begin to compete with March Comes in Like a Lion and Ancient Magus’ Bride when it comes to art, I’m sorry.
But also I’ve found myself near tears multiple times already, and I’ve only seen five episodes. I know the subbed is further, but the dubbed version I think is very well done. And I just prefer watching dubbed, but that’s besides the point.
I love The Ancient Magus’ Bride. I think it’s gorgeous, and much deeper than I expected. I thought I would end up hating Elias at first, but I never have. Nothing he’s doing is remotely malicious. And anyway, Chise did have just as much to do with this as he does. I thought things would go much differently, but I’m glad they are this way. I love watching Elias and Chise’s relationship grow, it warms my heart so much.
This rant has gone on long enough, I want to save my gushing for a different post!
