Unique Blogger Award

Unique Blogger Award

I can’t believe this is my fourth award I’ve received since joining WordPress. Never thought I’d be worthy of one. But here I am, and I can’t be more grateful.

This award was given to me by Irina of Drunken Anime Blog, a new friend of mine from the group OWLS, which I’m sure you’ve heard of by now. You should totally check their blog out.

Anyway, let’s get into the rules.

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
  • Ask them 3 questions.

The three questions Irina posed were:

  1. What post was your favorite to write and why?
  2. Is there a subject you would like to write about but haven’t quite figured out how to do it yet?
  3. What was the last random thing that made you happy?

1. What post was your favorite to write and why?

Every OWLS post I’ve written has been a load of fun. I never do anything so intricate and thought-provoking in my normal blog posts, so it’s a challenge for me. They also teach me so much about what I’m good at writing and what I’m not. And the support I receive from my friends is such a confidence boost I generally don’t have.

But that’s probably too vague, right?

My very favorite post I’ve written was [OWLS Blog Tour: Treasure] Accepting Yourself Is Not Easy (A Silent Voice), which was September’s tour post. To this day, I’m immensely proud of the result. It’s the most popular post I’ve written, and I feel it deserves it. I’ve written other posts that I absolutely hated by the time I posted it, and it got far too much recognition. They were not my best work, and I’ve considered deleting them.

This post I poured my heart and soul into. I had written over 1,000 words, I had about two days to finish it, and I decided to completely rewrite it. Best decision ever. I am in love with every word I wrote. I’ve reread it, and smiled. This is rare for anything I write. I’m so hard on myself, and it crushes my confidence sometimes. If a post gets only four or five likes, I feel like I’ve failed. I know I really haven’t I just need to look at what I did there and learn from that.

Sorry for getting so deep and depressing, but yeah. If I were to choose a piece to post as an example of my writing, that would be the thing I’d choose. Another would be LGBT+ Representation in Comics, since I got to share another love of mine to others. And I’m planning on making a second one in the near future.

2. Is there a subject you would like to write about but haven’t quite figured out how to do it yet?

Yes, definitely. I would love to be able to discuss books along with my anime posts, but I put myself in a corner naming my blog only after anime. I’m sure it’d be possible to do book reviews, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out how I’d do it. I don’t read as much as I’d like to, but I’ve been reading much more than I have all throughout high school. I’ve figured that webcomics fit okay into my blog, as a lot of them are in an anime style, and I’ve seen other bloggers discuss some. But books are a whole different story.

I’m thinking I’ll redo my site again to allow some different categories, since there are some I don’t use, and don’t need to be there. I can have a webcomics and books category to put those there for people interested.

I also am working on a book myself, and am working on putting together a Patreon. There would be short writings I do, and some information on the characters before it’s released to the public, along with snippets of the book. I don’t know if people will be interested in supporting me if it’s not for my blog, so I guess that’s yet another thing I want to discuss here but am not sure how.

I don’t know if this was the way the question was supposed to be taken, but I hope this was good enough.

3. What was the last random thing that made you happy?

Ah, two things happened on Wednesday that made me super happy. I got a call back from the store I applied to, and I’ll be having an interview very soon. Which is awesome for me, it’s a department store, which was exactly where I wanted to work, at least for the holiday season. I worked at a smaller store, somewhat like a dollar store, for a year but I wanted to expand a little bit. It’s not a career, and definitely not what I want for my future. I’m only seventeen, but for the time being this is something I want to continue doing. When I graduate college, I want to be an English teacher, but we’ll see how that goes.

The second thing isn’t as monumental, but it made my week. So, as you know by my first question response, I’m in love with A Silent Voice. And the theater release of the movie in the United States is Friday. Well, my local theater is only showing it on Monday at 7pm, the time my German class would be getting out. By the time I’d get to the theater, it’d already be half an hour in. I thought I’d have no hope of seeing it, since I’m still a teenager and skipping class to go to a movie is unheard of. I talked to my mom, and she told me that as long as I let her know where I’m at and let my professor know, I could leave early to go. I forget how great my mom is.

Alright, so there were my answers. Now for my nominations and questions.

  5. Andrealinia
  6. Rai’s Anime Blog

The Liebster Award

  • Thank the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they have written for you.
  • Nominate 11 people and give them 11 questions to answer.

Thank you to The Maniacal Book Unicorn for nominating me for another award! I really enjoy doing these posts since they’re much more personal and I can let my followers learn more about me. I honestly enjoy these the most, so thank you again for the nomination!

My questions:

1.What is your favorite type of Blog to read?

This seems like a no-brainer. Anime blogs. Though I don’t read them as much as I should, I love reading other people’s anime blogs. Recently, I’ve been reading every Yuri!!! On Ice blog I come across. I know it’s kind of old news now, but there are so many things to say about it and I truly enjoy seeing everyone’s opinion.

2. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

Probably seeing the comments I get from other bloggers. I like to see what others have to say about my posts. I also have a reason to be watching anime. I’m not “wasting my time” I’m “researching” haha.

3. What is your guilty pleasure?

Yuri on Ice fanart. I’ve been way too obsessed. Someone take my technology privileges away. Even my brothers have been trying to cut me off.

4. What’s your preferred or most used Social Media outlet?

Weirdly enough, Pinterest. I don’t even use it for crafts or recipes. There’s a ton of fandom stuff there and I’ve been using it for about four years for that sole purpose. Though recently I got a Tumblr, which I’m enjoying. If you want to follow me, though I post nothing, my username is eegghhh. Don’t ask why.

5. Which of these-Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Desert- is your favorite type of food, and is there any particular dish that is your favorite from those categories?

Okay, so I’m a picky person. I have been since I was not even two years old. Breakfast has always been my go-to when I visit a restaurant, so I majorly go to diners. And buttermilk pancakes are my favorite. But if I could eat dessert and never have health problems, I’d totally go with that. I have a huge sweet tooth. Probably why I each breakfast foods so much.

6. What is you favorite type of series to binge watch? (Or a series that you have recently binge watched)

I haven’t binge watched anything recently, since I’m trying to even out my anime watching. But I used to binge-watch shoujos all the time. I’d stay up until 2 am on a school night just to watch them. They usually took less than a week to complete, and one I finished in a day. But that was when I was sick. It was Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride), which was pretty cute.

7. Where would you want to go on a dream vacation?

Rome. Please. I love looking at the pictures of the old ruins and temples to the gods. I would love to just wander around and look at all of it. Or Athens, Greece. Either of those two. I love learning about mythology, so seeing those places would be a dream come true.

8. Is there anything that you collect? If not, is there anything that you used to collect or that you would like to start collecting in the future?

Posters, anime T-shirts, Japanese soda bottles and candy wrappers, tags from anime merch, and mangas. It wasn’t ever intentional for them to be a collection, but I get scolded by my friends any time I buy a poster or shirt. The Japanese snack containers was just because I thought the little chibi fruits on the soda bottles were cute. I have a whole shelf of them.

9. Where do you prefer to find book/anime/movie/game recommendations?

I find most on Pinterest or they are recommended by friends. The anime I’m watching now is pretty much all from friends. The book series I found on Pinterest through fanart. (It’s the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, if you like sci fi and fairy tales, you’d adore this series, as I do) And the video game I’m playing now was recommended by a friend. (The Wolf Among Us, another fairy tale-based premise. It’s super cool, and it’s good for me because it doesn’t require actual gaming skills)

10. Give a random fact about yourself.

I may have mentioned that I’m in school. I’m actually still in high school. I don’t know if that was obvious in my writing style, but yeah. I’ve noticed that most bloggers I talk to are older than me, which honestly was surprising to me since I’d assumed most people who enjoyed anime as much as me were younger. I was being secretive about my age, but honestly I don’t think it matters all that much. I think it may have been obvious in my cosplay pictures, but nobody said anything.

11. What is a book/anime/movie/game that you wish everyone would read/watch/play at least once?

I honestly don’t know. I could be annoying and say it be the story I’m currently working on, but that’s shallow so I won’t say that. Um, I really enjoyed Orange, as I said in my most recent review. I thought it dealt with depression and social anxiety well, which I have personal problems with. That would be one. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is one I will always love. And though I know a ton of people watch it anyway, it’s still a major recommendation. I mean, I’ve watched a lot. I used to read all the time, which I’m getting better at. Oh, I’m reading a webcomic called Space Boy, which you can read on LINE’s Webtoons. I was bingeing it just a couple hours ago and it has some really nice art and symbolism. I know I’m rambling, but yeah.

Again, thank you for the nomination.

And I guess Tumblr too? Idk you don’t have to.

Thank you for sticking around for all of my rambling! You guys are awesome! And there’s 37 of you! That’s absolutely insane to me. I thought I’d never get anywhere, especially because of my age, but I’m astonished. It may seem like a small number to you, but to me that’s giant. I cannot thank you all enough for dealing with me. I love all of you.

Sunshine Blogger Award!

Sunshine Blogger Award!

Wow! My second award! And it hasn’t even been a month since I received the nomination for the last one!

I really cannot thank you enough.  Since I started this blog, it’s been a struggle for me in many ways, so seeing the support from so many lovely people is a real boost.

Of course, I need to thank the person who nominated me for this, Inkling Infornography. He does movie, anime, and book reviews, so you should go check him out.  And, his website is Splatoon inspired, which coincidentally, is one of the only video games I’m half-way decent at.

Now, on to the rules of the nomination:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions they ask in their blog post
  • Nominate 11 more blogs and write 11 questions for them to answer
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post/blog

  1. If you were making an anime show, who would you choose to handle the soundtrack?
    • Ah, I’m not sure.  But some of my favorite fight scene soundtracks are Soul Eater and Noragami.  For other music, FMA: Brotherhood and Your Lie and April.  No wait, I choose Your Lie in April, that soundtrack makes me nearly cry because of how good it is.
  2. Favorite anime?
    • If you read my post on my top five animes, you already know the answer: Ouran High School Host Club.  I may be bias about it, but I will never cease to find enjoyment in a rewatch of it.
  3. Which movies are you most looking forward to in 2017?
    • Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Beauty and the Beast, Thor: Ragnarok, Logan.  I don’t really watch anything outside of Disney and Marvel honestly.
  4. Do you have any predictions on the upcoming Evangelion movie?
    • Ah, I’ve never watched Evangelion, so I couldn’t say.
  5. What are your thoughts on Rotosccoped animation?
    • I had to look this one up, but of the YouTube videos I watched on it, I think that if the animation stays somewhat cartoony, it’s interesting.  If too many realistic details are added, it becomes creepy.
  6. Who is your waifu?
    • Um, seeing as I’m a straight female, I will change this to the male equivalent.  And in that sense, I’d say Yukine from Noragami.  I don’t know why he’s appealed to me so much, but he’s so sassy and angry but he’s so small it’s cute!
  7. If you could live in any fictional world, where would it be?
    • I’ve thought about this before, and I decided it would be the Fullmetal Alchemist world.  Not only is it in the past, but wouldn’t it be awesome to make things change at your will?  Plus I want to meet all of them.
  8. Favorite Anime Director?
    • I don’t think I have a director I like, but my favorite animation company is BONES.  They’ve made so many of my favorites: FMA, Ouran, Soul Eater, Noragami, Snow White with the Red Hair, and more recently I began Boku no Hero Academia which I love the art for.
  9. English Dub or Subtitles?
    • DUB ALL THE WAY!  Of course, I’ll watch sub, but when FUNimation dubs something, it is most likely I’ll watch the dub.  I have also met three of their voice actors, which makes me feel obligated to anyway.  I have met Vic Mignogna, twice actually, J. Michael Tatum, and Caitlin Glass.
  10. Which Manga would you love to see get an anime adaptation?
    • If this were a question in August I would have said Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice), but that got a movie in September, which I’m still waiting to release in America so I can finally watch it.  But one thing I want to say is I wish Kimi no na Wa was a series instead of a movie.  It would probably take the top of my favorite shows.
  11. Favorite Meme?
    • I don’t think I have a specific one at the moment, but it used to be the Shia Labeof one.

I’ve already nominated almost all of the bloggers I know for an award, so I guess anyone who reads this gets a nomination from me.

My questions

  1. Favorite ship, or ships?
  2. Shoujo or Shounen?
  3. First anime, and if you still like it or not.
  4. Have you ever cosplayed, and where at?
  5. Favorite male character, favorite female character, and favorite transgender/nonbinary character (if you have one)
  6. Are you excited for Attack on Titan season 2?
  7. What show have you rewatched the most?
  8. Do you like Disney, and if so, what’s your favorite movie?
  9. Favorite music genre?
  10. Anime with the best art style?
  11. Your favorite movie of 2016

Thanks for the nomination, and I hope you enjoyed my answers!  My next post was supposed to be a review, but this will have to do for now.  The original post will probably go up at the end of next week.  I have finals coming up, so you’ll have to excuse me for making you wait.

I hope some of you will take the nomination, I just really don’t want to bother so many people again for another award.  I look forward to seeing your answers!

Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award

Now I feel like a real part of the blogging community.  When I saw this nomination in my notifications, I lit up.  I’ve been having a rough couple of months between taking a college class with a notorious professor, dealing with a moody cat, struggling with my anxiety, and just being plain tired.  Thank you to those of you who continue to support me and my blog.

Rules for the Nomination

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you
  • Give a brief history on your blog and how it started
  • Give two tips to new bloggers
  • Nominate up to 15 fellow bloggers

I was nominated by The Maniacal Book Unicorn, who does some awesome spoiler-free book and manga reviews, and has been very supportive of my blog as I’ve been going through this journey.  Please check them out, they are very nice and awesome!

As the rules of the nomination states, I will be giving a little bit of history on my blog, advice for other bloggers, and nominations for other bloggers.

About my Blog

If any of you have been here since the beginning, you’ll know some of this already.  This a fairly new blog, considering I started it sometime during May this year.  It didn’t do well at all in the beginning.  I made a couple posts, but after that, I didn’t have a computer to write my posts on until September.  After that, I wrote up My Top 5 Animes and became a little bit more recognized.  Even now, I’m by no means popular, but I’m having a ton of fun getting involved in the blogging community.

I started this blog because honestly, I wanted to get my opinions out there and see who else agrees or disagrees with me.  I used to do some roleplaying a couple years ago, but I fell out of that, and this was my next idea to get my ideas across.  And though I never thought anyone would like my opinions, all of you who are following me have proved me dead wrong.  There may only be 14 of you, but you all mean the world to me.  After posting My Top 5 Animes, I checked my computer every half hour it seemed like, and there was no response at all.

I felt discouraged.  I felt like I wasted my time pouring my soul into the post.  That might just be my self-esteem hating on me, but I almost wanted to quit immediately.  I didn’t think that there was any way I could get even one or two followers.  Turns out, I was missing a very important thing in my post, which I will explain in the next section of this post.

Tips for Those Getting Started

  1. Don’t give up when you don’t get views immediately

I thought that I wasn’t good enough to capture the attention of anime lover initially.  Fortunately, AnimeGirlsNYC saved me when I was thinking this.  They noticed my post and commented on it, and I instantly felt better.  After that, I kept going with my blog and kept trying new things to get more recognition and more people involved.  It also helped that I began finding new blogs and read their posts.  When they saw me on their blog, they came to mine.  And in the end, it doesn’t matter how many people see your words on their screen.  It matters that you’re confident in your ideas and you have fun writing it.

2. Tags, categories, and pictures will save your blog

If you look back to my first post of content, Why Winry Rockbell is Awesome, there’s no pictures, and until a month ago, there were no tags on it either.  And on all of my other posts, I included tags and categories.  Use these to your advantage.  Tags help because when you go to the “reader” view and type a topic in, all posts with that tag in it will appear.  You’ll get discovered more easily and you’ll discover friends much more easily.  Categories make your blog more organized and pretty.  And pictures: they just make it seem more professional and nice to look at.  Using these things will make a world of difference in the appearance and traffic of your website.

I don’t have a ton of close blogging friends, so I’ll just include as many as I can.  And I’m sorry if you’ve already been nominated, as I’m sure some of you have been, since you’ve been here longer than me.

  1. Anime Girls NYC
  2. Manga Corner Blog
  3. Karandi
  4. Little Anime Blog
  5. Uphill Battle With Kim
  6. Plain Pasta and Plain Rice
  7. Toritsuka Manga

I’ll let all nominees know about this, don’t worry.

Thank you again to The Maniacal Book Unicorn for nominating me for this.  You’ve been one of my biggest inspirations to continue doing this.  Your comments make me happy every time I see them and I feel as if I don’t give you enough recognition.  Words can’t describe how grateful I am!
